<description>Today an SDK was released to the public. This is great news to me, I love iphone and most importantly, I love my ipod touch. As I was watching the video of the release, the one thing that peaked my interest was the new software update for both iphone and ipod touch. However, I noticed that this update was going to be free for iphone and not ipod touch. That’s where you are screwing us ipod touch users over. I along with many others have had our ipod touches long before firmware 1.1.2. Because of this, I purchased the twenty dollar software upgrade, which as I’m sure you know has caused thousands of consumers to turn their backs on Apple and your products. So yes, I paid a hefty fee of three hundred and twenty dollars for my ipod touch. Then you start including this software upgrade in the new line of ipod touches but yet, you did not increase the price of the ipod itself. What’s up with that? Why is this company trying to nickel and dime ipod touch users. You are causing so many people to go illegal and jailbreak their ipod touches. Have you looked on Youtube? That is why I do not understand the reason for charging users for this software upgrade. I mean you already have the SDK exclusively running on the MAC OS X, how many developers went out to get new computers today? Did that not bring in any revenue? Don’t get me wrong that is a great marketing strategy, but I wont a free software update. I already paid for the twenty dollar apps. Also, if the app store does do as well as you say it is, you’re making thirty percent anyway and we have to pay for the costly apps. That’s three hundred and twenty and climbing. I know you said “We don’t look at this as a profit opportunity” that’s bullshit, what company doesn’t want to make a profit. “We don’t plan to make money with the App Store”, I understand that but still your screwing the old touch users over. This is why Apple, if you really won’t to be the company that’s for the consumers, you should also offer a free software update for ipod touch.
